Zimbabwe Report
by Stephen Cartwright SOC Director
I just returned from my trip to Africa where I visited a number of schools that were in different countries. My first stop was in South Africa to meet with a group of believers that were interested in the School of Christ. After this I went to Zimbabwe, this is the first time the school of Christ has been there. For those of you unfamiliar with Zimbabwe it has suffered terribly under the dictatorship rule of Robert Mugabe (President). In Zimbabwe's recent history the people have been persecuted by the government, forcing people to vote for one party. There has been a great lack of food, but this situation has not allayed the great hunger of the church in Zimbabwe for God.
One of the students in the class in Zimbabwe gave this testimony of the effect the School of Christ had upon their life "the true repentance lesson brought a change in my life and ministry. The power of the Adamic nature and tendency to sin was broken and destroyed from my life through this lesson. With the deceit of Satan exposed to me, I am now bold to stand and proclaim the Gospel of repentance to many."
From Zimbabwe I travelled to the eastern province of Uganda where the school was graduating in the city of Iganga. It was wonderful to see the effect of the school on these pastors and leaders. From Uganda I went to Tanzania where I was with Tony Vincent director for the school in this nation, we graduated the students in the city of Moshi. Tony testified about a trip he had made to preach the gospel in the bush. He had to walk many hours through the open country traversing water and avoiding the wild animals. When he arrived he preached to the people with the result of souls coming to know Christ. There are still many places upon the earth where the gospel has not been proclaimed.
The last part of my trip was taken up visiting the graduation of the school in Nigeria. This will be our second to last school in this nation and many of the pastors and leaders were asking if it was possible to take the school of Christ and use it in their own churches. It was great to see such a hunger for reality in these lives.
In Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda they are holding bi-monthly meetings with former students gathering together for 3 days to fast and pray.
