Pastor Donald Chance
Director for Venezuela
Bishop Donal Chance, Sr. is President of Congregation
of Bible Tabernacle, known to many as Bayou Lands
Mission. He has been the overseer of the Corporation for
35 years. Bishop Chance has been in full-time ministry
45 years. He is Senior Pastor of Bible Tabernacle
Ministries, recently renamed Freedom Center, for 25
years. His passion has been to help pioneer churches in
the United States. His heart is for the local pastor.
Bishop Chance is a man of wisdom and his goal is to
lead men, women, boys and girls to the saving
knowledge of Jesus Christ through the anointed
preaching and teaching of the Word of God. He has a
great desire for the mission fields of South America.
Rev. Chance has pioneered many mission works and
churches in Venezuela, among the Venezuelans and
Wayuu Indians as well as Columbia. Since 1996,
through the School of Christ International, he has
established Bible Schools that have graduated
approximately 1,500 students. Over the last 45 years, he
has seen many souls won into the Kingdom of God. His
wife, Bessie Chance, is Co-Pastor of Freedom Center.
They have 3 children, who are married and serving in the
ministry. They have 6 grandchildren and 9 great
grandchildren.
In the early 1960's, Rev. James Sellers felt the call to
go to Venezuela. With the support of Rev. & Mrs. A.R.
Loveless and Bayou Lands Mission, the Sellers family
moved to Northern Venezuela. There they built a home
and church where they ministered to the Wayuu
Indians.
In 1985, a fire destroyed the mission where 5 people
were killed. Rev. Donal & Bessie Chance took a 6 week
leave of absence from their church to go to build a
Bible school. There the School of Christ International
began. Through the School of Christ, the Chance's
were able to go to Valencia, Venezuela where they built
a church and Bible school. Since that time, over 1,000
students have graduated from the S.O.C. and about 30
churches have been established.
Through the sacrifices of churches and many
individuals across North America, there is a great
move of God equal to Pentecost in Venezuela. The
harvest is ripe but the lack of funds makes it difficult
to reap the harvest. Some have had the desire to build
small churches in memory of loved ones. The desire of
the Bayou Lands Mission is that God will send more
financial labourers to reap the harvest of souls.
